Levi’s downhill and cross-country skiing season typically opens in the first week of October and continues until mid-May. With over seven months of skiing, you’ll experience varied snow conditions throughout the season. Polar Night and Northern Lights
Levi’s polar night period begins in the second week of December and lasts until early January. During this time, the sun doesn’t rise at all. Morning, day, and night are dimly lit, but the snow, moonlight, and Northern Lights create beautifully enchanting nights, sometimes filled with vibrant colors.
In Levi, you can see the Northern Lights an average of 111 times per year, with the season lasting from late August until the end of April. During the darkest winter months, the Northern Lights can appear as early as 5 PM, but they often shine their brightest between 8 PM and 1 AM.
Downhill skiing
Levi ski resort is the largest ski resort in Finland in terms of number of visitors. The slopes open depending on the snow conditions in October-November. Hotel Levi Panorama is the only slope hotel where you can jump directly onto the slope!

Levi is one of Finland’s most popular cross-country skiing destinations due to its wide range of tracks and beautiful scenery.

Dog sledding safaris are available daily in Levi throughout the winter season, with options ranging from a few kilometers to full-day adventures covering several dozen kilometers.
Reindeer
In Levi, you can enjoy encounters with northern animals! Reindeer can be seen in the yard of Hotel K5 Levi during winter.
Guided tours to reindeer farms are available in winter, where you can also take a reindeer sleigh ride to experience the tranquility of nature and Lapland’s traditional mode of transport.
Snowmobiling
A snowmobile ride takes you deep into the wilderness to admire the fell landscapes. In Levi, you’ll find several snowmobile rental services, as well as guided snowmobile tours.
Ice Karting
Experience the thrill of driving on an ice karting track! No driver’s license or prior experience is required, and anyone over 145 cm tall can participate, making this activity suitable for children as well.

Refresh yourself in the cool water! Ice swimming spots can be found at Immelkartano, Sammun Tupa, Tonttula’s lakeside sauna, Saunabaari, Aakenuspirtti, and Arctic Sauna World. Some sessions are open to all, while others require advance booking.
