At Restaurant Freja, the kitchen follows the rhythm of the seasons and draws inspiration from Nordic flavors. Under the lead of Head Chef Konsta Elomaa, the food is honest and unpretentious – where seasonal ingredients and northern culinary traditions meet a modern touch.
Freja is a place where time slows down. Your day begins with a generous breakfast buffet, continues with a nourishing lunch, and ends with a cozy, atmospheric dinner. Located in the heart of Matinkylä, Freja is a peaceful retreat – a place to pause and savor flavors shaped by the seasons.

Background
Restaurant Freja is part of Kassiopeia Hotels & Restaurants, a Finnish company founded in 1997. Freja is one of many Kassiopeia restaurants – and its closest sister restaurant is just a couple of kilometers away. You might recognize it: the cozy seaside café Nokkalan Majakka!
Kassiopeia also operates hotels. Freja is located at street level of the newly built Hotel Matts, and two additional hotels can be found in the stunning Finnish Lapland. Hotel Levi Panorama, with its restaurants, conference services, and cinema, sits on the slopes of Levi Fell, while the welcoming Hotel K5 Levi is located near the heart of Levi village.


Sustainability
Restaurant Freja and Hotel Matts were awarded the Nordic Swan Ecolabel in early 2024 in recognition of their environmental efforts. In spring 2025, both were also granted the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) label.
